Dark Angels List for 4tk tournament

I have been thinking about the list I'm going to take to the upcoming 4tk 1750pts tournament in May. Here are three options:

List 1:
Belial - th&ss (130)
5 x Deathwing squads - all with CML, at least 2 th&ss in each squad (1175)
2 x landspeeders with typhoon ml & mm (separate units) (150)
2 x Predators - auto/las (260)
that leaves 35 pts for two chainfists and a banner
This list gives some nice fire support with the preds and speeders.

Alternatively:

List 2:
Belial - th&ss (130)
5 x Deathwing squads - all with CML, at least 2 th&ss in each squad (1175)
3 x landspeeders with typhoon ml & mm (separate units) (225)
Predator - auto/las (130)
Leaving me with 90 pts for 5 chainfists and an extra landspeeder with mm for one speeder squadron - making that speeder more survivable with a cover save and ablative speeder.
This list has more speeders so more likely one will survive for last turn objective grabbing, plus more missiles but only one pred - could swap this for two more speeders making all 3 sqaudrons of 2 but losing the lascannons.

List 3:
Belial - th&ss (130)
5 x Deathwing squads - all with CML, at least 2 th&ss in each squad (1175)
2 x landspeeders with typhoon ml & mm (separate units) (150)
Land Raider (godhammer) (250)
Leaving me with 45 pts for a banner and 4 chainfists.
I'm thinking the lascannons will be better against orc battlewagons and mech than the crusader, but I can't transport Belial as well in it (capacity 5 terms for the godhammer in the DA codex)
This list gives some mobility and a big tank and fire support.

I think 6 DW squads is probably overkill for troops and some more fire support would be better, hence all lists have 5 DW squads in.

Any comments appreciated!

  1. Looking over the lists I think I prefer either the lots of speeders approach or the landraider.

    I feel the predators just don't fit with the rest of the list and given there limited mobility and for the same points (ish) the landraider will give similar firepower, is tougher and can hold a unit, just keep it out of melta range.

    I like the speeders as they give alot of mobility which you otherwise lack.

  2. I'm With Wisdom not a fan of the preds you seam to "turn on" your opponents Missile launchers. Land speeders cover the weakness of the DW (lack of mobilty) where as the preds just give you more ranged firepower. With the landraider i cant say much over then Wisdom takes it to every torni and the ride home is him telling me how bad it did when it get wrecked turn one or imoblised itself. i don't rate them so i'm going with the army with land speeders (and i don't think taking a single pred is a good idea.

  3. Cheers guys. Had a game yesterday with the guy who runs Draigowing. Still lost but it was a great game and if (IF)I hadn't rolled three ones to wound his large paladin squad in combat I might have won the game. Certainly a lot closer than last time. I took the two Pred list but they weren't that amazing, put two wounds on Draigo with their lascannons and one was contesting an objective at the end. They were targets for his Psyfleman Dreads and spent a few turns shaken, so I fear you may both be right about them. The speeders were good again - one came from reserve and blew up a dread, but i still really hate psycannons and his 10man squad of Paladins with Draigo and Inquisitor attached, which walked through everything I chucked at it (although I did kill Draigo, which was nice).

    I am going to try the 6 landspeeder list next week against another guys Guard army and see how it goes! I am now thinking 6 terminator squads and two landspeeders, or 5 squads and 6 landspeeders might be the way forward.
