I'm going to the 4TK 2000pt tournament next weekend and a few months ago when it was announced I decided to use the event as motivation to paint my Daemon army.
The whole army, arrayed in formation staying near fateweaver.
I've got a very large Blood Angels army that I've painted to various standards that I usually take to tournaments but though it'd be nice to play a different army and also paint something other than red. Because the army I'm using has quite a low model count I decided to spend a little more time and care than I usually do and I'm quite pleased with the results, it was a nice change to be able to do each unit in an individual colour scheme.
They're all on square bases because I use the army for both 40K and fantasy, luckily the tournament organiser has no problem with me using them that way :)
Bloodthirster. He was part painted when I got him from ebay so only needed finishing up.
Three Daemon Princes, one of Nurgle, two of Tzeentch. I like using different models for these (the pink one is sometimes used as a Slaanesh follower).
Bloodcrushers. I didn't want them to be particularly red so went for a much darker scheme on the mounts themselves.
Fiends. Half of them are alot more sunburnt than the other half as I added to the unit later on and had forgotten the mix of paint I'd used on the others.
Multiple Plaguebearers. I wanted the different units to be different colours so they could be told appart easily.
Now that their finished I can spend a couple of weeks relaxing and painting Ghazghkull :D then I have more BA's to paint for next years 40KUKGT.
Looking nice! Those Plaguebearers came out great. I think I like the purple daemon prince the best, but it's a tough one.
ReplyDeleteThe rust on the big Plaguebearer squad looks v.nice, but I think that you painted it on? Did you try the pigments out and decide against them?
Haven't had time to try it as yet. As you said it can be applied after varnish I decided to go back and try it after the tournament.
ReplyDeletelooking good, I particularly like the pink daemon prince sticking his middle finger up, presumably at the loyalist space marines not far away!
